The concept for these photos is “date night gone wrong.”
I was inspired by the beautiful aesthetics of Izima Kaoru’s images, which proposed that death held a sort of mysterious allure behind it. His muses’ polished looks & pretty clothes created a stark contrast to the deep slumber that they had succumb to: death.
The cause of death in these photos is up to interpretation. Whether I tripped in my heels and struck my head against the railing of the pier or if I was poisoned by my mystery date moments before remains to be unseen.

Are you familiar with Oliver Sacks? He was a uniquely sensitive Neurobiologist who wrote beautiful books about people in amazing circumstances. If you’ve never read anything of his, you might enjoy taking a look. The CSULB library has a number of his books:

I have a profound respect for creative writing majors, so I consider it a compliment that you mistook me for one! I have heard of Oliver Sacks but I’ve never actually read his books. Thank you for the recommendation! I’ll definitely look into him & his writing 🙂
