Wk4 – Classmate Conversation – Helen Lee

My first classmate conversation of the semester features my wonderful friend, Helen Lee.

Helen and I first met during week 2’s artist group discussion. Up until then I hadn’t met any other students through the group discussions who were remotely friendly or had seemed like they wanted to make friends with other people. Luckily, I met Helen and knew from the get-go that she would be a great friend.

Helen is a fourth year English Education major. (I’d like to point out how I met her just as she is about to graduate. *cries*)  I asked her what motivated her to want to be a junior high/high school English teacher, and she told me that people have always told her that she’d be good at teaching others professionally. In addition she wants to be a positive influence towards students.

Helen has many hobbies that she enjoys, including:

  • riding her bike
  • hiking/being outdoors
  • cooking entree type dishes
  • painting
  • photography
  • crocheting/knitting

After graduation she plans to take part in CSULB’s single subject credential program, where she will participate in student teaching.

Although Helen is from South Pasadena, she grew up in Los Angeles. When she was younger she would travel a lot with her family. She’s been to many places, such as:

  • Oregon
  • Washington
  • Nevada
  • Utah
  • Texas
  • Canada
  • Tennessee
  • New York
  • New Jersey
  • Korea
  • Beijing
  • Thailand
  • various parts of Europe

Fun-fact: She enjoys yoga and can do the crane pose! (Which by the way looks pretty difficult so props to her)

One thing on her bucket list: To sky-dive.

I feel as though I know Helen a lot better after this assignment! To check out her blog, click here! 🙂
